Award Winning Author/photographer Paul Bannick will take you on a visual journey of 5 key habitats of the Pacific Northwest and will look at the ways in which the lives of owls and woodpeckers are intertwined and how together they both define and enrich the habitats of the Pacific Northwest. The content draws from his new book, The Owl and The Woodpecker: Encounters with North America's Most Iconic Birds which will be available for purchase. Refreshments will be served. Food, Art, Craft Vendors, Kid's Games/Activities Sardis Raptor Center Live Raptor Presentations and Educational Exhibits. There will also be a FREE Shuttle Bus going bewteen the Worldly Treasures Building and Blaine Boating Center for people attending the festival.

About the
Festival...
The festival will be headquartered this year in downtown Blaine overlooking Blaine Harbor and White Rock, BC. There will be art and craft vendors, free kid's activities live raptors and wildlife guest speakers.
DIRECTIONS:
NORTH BOUND I-5: Take I-5 Exit 276. At exit ramp take a left on D Street, go under the I-5 overpass, at light (Subway Sandwiches) make a right on Marine Drive. Proceed down Marine Drive to the WOW Info Tent on your left by The Northern Light building.
SOUTH BOUND (From Peace Arch Crossing): Take the first Exit (Peace Portal Drive). At bottom of ramp turn right onto Marine Drive. Proceed down Marine Drive to the WOW Info Tent on your left by The Northern Light building.

WILDLIFE FIELD TRIPS Saturday, April 18th, 2009
The festival will be providing 2 venues for Wildlife & Geology Field trip to Semiahmoo Spit and Wildlife Cruises aboard the Plover Passenger Ferry. Get your reservation in early, spots fill up fast. Ticket sales for both will be at:

Birding Movies at The Blaine Public Library:
Take in a movie on Birds at the Blaine Public Library.
Where: 610 3rd Street

Showing Times: 1pm to 3pm and 3pm to 5pm

Wildlife & Geology Field trip to Semiahmoo Spit:
Take a short bus ride to explore Semiahmoo Spit, a natural spit 1.25 miles long rich with history and opportunities to view wildlife. Guided by Jim Jorgensen, retired teacher of geology and ornithology at Blaine High School, you will learn about the geology (formation) as well as about many species of birds. There will also be an opportunity to visit the Semiahmoo Museum.

Plover Wildlife Cruises: The historic Plover
ferry will be taking passengers on a nature cruise of Drayton Harbor and Semiahmoo Bay with a wildlife biologist on board.
Saturday: 10 AM to 3 PM. (Last sailing is at 3pm)
Cost: $5/pp,rt
Ticket Reservations: Worldly Treasures Building at G Street & Peace Portal Drive.

Educational programs offered by Sardis Raptor Center will be showing some of the most magnificent birds of prey such as a variety of hawks, the largest owl species in the world, and a Peregrine Falcon, capable of 200-mph dives! This program is highly recommended for all ages and enables one to see many magnificent birds.

The Festival will have two guest speakers talking at the Blaine Boating Center Conference Room. There will be a FREE Shuttle Bus between The Worldly Treasures Building and Blaine Boating Center for participants. |
